Whilst there is lots of information around about online marketing, often it’s about what you should be doing, rather than how to do it. In this second of two shows on the same theme, the experts talk about the practicalities of Marketing your business online.

- Jeremy Spiller is a regular guest on Business as Usual. He is managing director of White Hat Media, the award-winning SEO and marketing company. He regularly writes articles, runs workshops and speaks at conferences on the subject for organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), e-Consultancy, and Sussex Enterprise.

There’s no doubt that the rise of the internet, and the explosion of social media, has changed the way we market our businesses. If can seem these days that if you’re not on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or blogging, then you’re not marketing. Employing people is exactly the same as any relationship; sometimes you have arguments, sometimes you fall out. So, if that happens, what can you do? Today’s experts talk about Disgruntled employees.
Julie’s guests again this week:
- Rebecca Thornley-Gibson is partner and divisional director of ASB Law. She has spent her professional life with ASB, qualifying in 1992 and becoming a partner in 1999. Rebecca is recommended by Legal 500 and is a recognised industry commentator. She contributes to a variety of business publications and regularly speaks at industry events organised by CIPD, ACCA and the HR Leaders’ Forum.
- Matt Penfold has worked for ACAS for seven years, four of which were in central London, conciliating disputes between employers and trade unions. Matt is now the senior adviser and collective conciliator for South Kent, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. He advises employers on employment relations issues, delivers training events in most areas related to employment, and conciliates collective disputes wherever required.
- Paul Bonett started Bonett’s Estate Agents in 1990 after being made redundant. Alongside running Bonett’s, Paul is also Chairman of Brighton Business Community Partnership, and the Education and Business Partnership, as well as various boards which aim to develop the city. He is also an instructor in Aikido.

- Mark Walsh leads Brighton-based Integration Training – working with stress and time management, team building, communication and leadership. His speciality is ‘embodied training’, helping people be ‘human at work’. He has a background in psychology, outdoor education and charity work in conflicted countries.
- Soraya Shaw of Springboard Coaching has enjoyed a successful career in advertising, working at agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather on client relationships and brand responsibility for multi-national companies such as Unilever, Kimberly Clark and Johnson & Johnso. She set up her management and training company, Springboard Coaching six years ago.
- Curtis James trains people in Gettings Things Done, helping them to free their minds for the more creative and interesting things in life. He does this at regular workshops and clients’ offices on a one-to-one basis. Curtis has also worked in the music industry for fifteen years in just about every capacity you can think of and, alongside his training company, People Who Do, Curtis works with various parts of the music industry focusing on new forms of music.

As a business owner, you’ll be told that you need to have a vision, a mission and a strategy… but what are they, and exactly how do you develop them? This week’s experts talk about Thinking strategically.
Joining Julie again in this studio this week:
- Phil Green is managing director of the MDHub as well as being MD of his own company, Prism Group. His last ‘real job’ was as MD of an inbound Japanese tour operator, based in Paris. Previously he has worked for McDonell Douglas Bank Group.
- Joseph Clayton is the MD of Clayton Vyner Ltd. He has worked in America, all across Europe and the UK, and has 17 years’ experience in corporate development strategies. His company focuses on leadership and management development, employee engagement and communication.
- Al Tredinnick is currently running his own sales and coaching business Al Tredinnick Consulting which has been up and running for six months and is thriving. Prior to this, Al was sales manager at Nido Marketing, and before that was a teacher of sales and leadership and a bank manager.
