Many business owners arrive home late, tired and preoccupied. If you run your own business, just how can you strike the perfect balance between your business life and your personal life? Today’s guest talk about Perfecting your work/life balance.

Julie’s guests again in the studio again this week:

  • Mark Walsh leads Brighton-based Integration Training – working with stress and time management, team building, communication and leadership. His speciality is ‘embodied training’, helping people be ‘human at work’. He has a background in psychology, outdoor education and charity work in conflicted countries.
  • Soraya Shaw of Springboard Coaching has enjoyed a successful career in advertising, working at agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather on client relationships and brand responsibility for multi-national companies such as Unilever, Kimberly Clark and Johnson & Johnso. She set up her management and training company, Springboard Coaching six years ago.
  • Curtis James trains people in Gettings Things Done, helping them to free their minds for the more creative and interesting things in life. He does this at regular workshops and clients’ offices on a one-to-one basis. Curtis has also worked in the music industry for fifteen years in just about every capacity you can think of and, alongside his training company, People Who Do, Curtis works with various parts of the music industry focusing on new forms of music.

When you go from being an employee to the one who’s running a business and has to make all the decisions, it is both liberating and scary. Who will do all the work if you’re the only one in the room? This weeks’ guests discuss, How does it feel to run a business?

Julie’s guests again this week:

It’s never been harder to borrow money, whether it’s to start a new venture, cover temporary cash flow, or grow an existing business. This week’s guests explore various ways of Finding the money and discuss the pros and cons.

Julie is joined by:

  • Julia Chanteray runs The Joy of Business. Julia is a regular guest on the show. She helps small businesses develop, using her years of experience running successful businesses.  Julia was the ‘expert in residence’ on Channel 4’s Risking It All programme.
  • Darren Connolly is managing director of Mentor Limited. He uses his background and expertise in accounting to help make the process of starting a business as stress-free and straightforward as possible.
  • Ian Hubbard was a manager of HSBC bank for many years, and has seen many people build profitable businesses and get the finances right. He now works as an independent consultant.
